WALKING TOUR OF ALCALÁ DE GUADAÍRA

SUITCASES FOR AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS

We have won the prize, yes, a trip around the world that we'll make in 80 days. For that we should pack our travel suitcases. What will be inside?

1. Map and itinerary
2. Fact File Sheets about the cities
3. Passport
4. Tickets and boarding passes
5. Camera
6. Other

First we have to create the suitcase.
You can make them with cardboard, poster board and even with a cereal box. You can't forget the label with your name. Although we'll work with cooperative groups each of you will have to make your own suitcase.

On this link you can see how you can upcycle a cereal box to make a suitcase.

II.
Second we have to prepare an itinerary on a map and fill in our fact files with information of the cities. I will give these to you in class.

ITINERARY: London --Suez -- Bombay -- Calcutta -- Hong Kong -- Yokohama -- San Francisco -- New York

III. Tercero crearemos nuestro pasaporte.
Third we will create our passport. Here you are a link that may help you.

IV. Cuarto tenemos que crear nuestros billetes.
Fourth we have to make our tickets.

V. Quinto llevaremos nuestra cámara.
Fifth we will take our cameras.

VI.
We can include everything you want.

GOOD LUCK!

TIMELINE

Let's organize our biographies in a timeline. Our life events are explained in the past. Here you have some creative timelines to make your own:

You can also create a TIMELINE using your computer and one of the programmes you can find on the internet for timelines like this one:

When we finish this project we are going to build a TIMELINE among all about the trip of Phileas Fogg and Passepartout in "Around the World in 80 Days," like this one:

DRAW MY LIFE: A BIOGRAPHY

In the next project we are going to create a "Draw my Life" video. What is it? Have a look at these two videos. They're a "Draw my Life" about the life of Marie Curie in English and Spanish.

These are the steps to create this new project:

1. Groups of 3-4 students

2. Choose a famous person

3. Look for information

4. Complete a "Storyboard" (Example in Spanish)

5. Use a whiteboard or white sheet of paper to draw:

Ideas for the whiteboard:

Make your own board: Tip 1
Use a notebook: Tip 2
Use a whiteboard: Tip 3

6.Record your video while you're drawing and record your voice over the video.
(ex.

Do you think you can make this challenge?

SPORT PROJECT

We are going to do a Sport Project in cooperative groups. These are the documents of each group:

These are the roles of the members of each group:

These are some ideas for your project:

1.-Cricket

2. You can read these four websites for ideas:

National Geographic Kids (Extinct animals)

This year 'Comunicalia' is about the book 'The Little Prince' by Antoine de Saint- Exupéry. Instead of working about the author or the book we are going to create little planets or asteroids. Do you remember the asteroids in the book? Asteroid B612?

Before we start have a look at the videos below:

Like the video we can create Tiny Planets with photos.
This is one Little Planet made by me.

It is not very good, but if you google 'tiny planets' you will find amazing pictures like these:

How can you make them? Follow these steps:

1. Take a photo of a landscape, it is better if there are both land and sky.

2. Download the free app for Android 'Tiny Planet Maker', choose your photo and create your tiny planet.

3. If  you have technical problems you can draw it!

4. Now describe it

-You can talk about animals, landscape, buildings, people if any, aliens...
-Use There is, There are, Have got, To Be... OR the conditional would with them.

5. Finally, put together your photo or drawing with your description.

6
. Do your best because we are going to do an exhibition with your work!

In case you have problems with the app, you could follow these steps to draw your own planet:

No ideas for the description of your planet? Maybe the video below inspires you:

Most of you really worked hard! This is part of the result of your project!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Where are we going to travel next summer? Have a look! You had great ideas!

Leonardo da Vinci Lapbooks

In the second term we are going to study Leonardo da Vinci from different perspectives. In our English class we are going to write a biography about Leonardo but in a very special way. Do you know what a Lapbook is? Well, have a look at these two videos and pictures because you are going to create one about the aspects that most interest you about Leonardo.

Now, you can get more ideas for the layout of your lapbook from these pictures:

By the way, you can also use this technique for other subjects like history or maths:

Now you can start by searching for information on these pages:

Guía para  la presentación oral del proyecto.

1.Usa una tarjeta donde estará la información que vas a decir.

2. Estructura la presentación oral.

2.1. Introduction:
-Hello, my name is...
-This is my project, a lapbook about Leonardo Da Vinci
-I hope you like it

2.2. Description:

-In the lapbook we/you can see...
-In the lapbook there are five parts.
-At the top /bottom there is/are...
-On the right/on the left you can see...
-In the middle...
-In the bottom left-hand corner...
-In the top right-hand corner...
-Next to...
-Under...

2.3. Conclusion:
-This is my lapbook and I hope you liked it.

This is 1ºB and 1º E exhibition of Lapbooks. Pablo H and Ana Mª explained to other students how to make one.

Cultural Class

Last week we had the chance to attend a cultural class about the UK. We all learnt quite a lot!

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Project

Our first class project was a success. Some of the best were Esperanza's, Paula's and Carolina's. Perhaps the most original project was Sergio's, who compared the two existing films of`'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory'. David G.and Iván spoke really good English too. Finally, Esperanza and Carolina presented their English projects in the High School auditorium. Esperanza talked about Roald Dahl's biography and books and Carolina's project was about English typical desserts. David G., Pablo M. and other students also presented their projects for other subjects other than English.
You all did a great job!

Indira's project was really sweet and it's decorating our classroom now.

Daniella A. from 1ºESO B didn't present her project in the auditorium but she did a delicious project: chocolate lollipops. She explained to us how she made them and she also brought them to class. Congratulations!
